Charles Benns - 2009 Monster Jam Humanitarian Of The Year !

3/29/2009 - Las Vegas, NV

At the 2009 Monster Jam World Finals Banquet, Charles Benns was honored as the Monster Jam “Humanitarian of the Year” for the second year in a row!

Charles has spent the last year since winning his first award working on his usual activities like cutting off his hair last April for locks of love, “an organization that helps kids who suffer hair loss”, and raising money to help orthopedically challenged kids at his beloved Carrie Tingley Children’s Hospital in Albuquerque. Charles and Team Pit-Bull has helped raise around $12,000 in the last 6 months alone! They want to make a difference!

He also took on some new things like Summerbash 08′ at Kirtland Air Force Base, Valencia County Animal Rescue, and the very special Make a Wish foundation!

At Summer Bash at the Air Force Base, Charles took his monster truck down to hang out with the families and kids of soldiers serving overseas, and to thank the ones that are here! “Soldiers are my heroes” Charles.

The Valencia County Commission declared October 4th as “Pit Bull Day” in recognition of the work that had been done on behalf of educating the public about this misunderstood breed, and helping the animals. The day was used to crush cars, make friends, and raise monies for the shelter!

Charles met some really special kids from the Make a Wish foundation over the year and really wanted to do something big at his hometown show for them! Charles got a motorhome with the help of some good friends, and he took it to his hometown Monster Jam after it had been painted up real nice for Make a Wish on one side of it, and Carrie Tingley Children’s Hospital on the other! He wiped it out and obliviated it in front of a sold out crowd in his home town. To him, those smiles and cheers from those kids are better than any award or anything else in the world! It was an awesome night, and a true demonstration of how Charles truly care about these kids! “His kids”!

Charles signs over all his hometown checks from his shows to the kids at Carrie Tingley, but the motorhome was his way of saying thank you to an entire town that has really embraced him as their guy! It was really and truly “for his fans”!

In the words of the World Freestyle Champion Damon Bradshaw- You don’t do any of this stuff for a plaque or anything, but it is nice that somebody cares!

Charles wanted to recognize his team and all of their personal sacrifices they have endured so he can give away the money. They have made his charity work their charity work as well! Charles fully acknowledges his team and he always says he would be nothing without them!

Charles is very humbled by this award and recognition, and it only makes him do more!           HE WILL!

Las Vegas, Nevada - Monster Jam World Finals 09′

We were lucky enough to be invited back to the pinnacle event in our sport! Although we did not make the top cut as a top 24 truck, we were on display for the largest event of the year for Monsters! We met tens of thousands of fans, and got to participate in a tremendous event! We loved meeting all the new fans and visiting again with all the old ones! If you were at this event, you know what we are saying when we say “this is the one”! All the damage and destruction, it was all there!!!!

Congratulations to the now 8 time world finals champion Tom Meents for taking the racing title, and to Damon Bradshaw for getting it done in freestyle! You guys put on a show!!!!

Thanks to Feld and Monster Jam for putting on such an awesome event and having us there!

Lunch with Albuquerque’s Mayor Chavez @ Golden Corral Restaurant

Charles and Team Pit Bull were recently honored to be invited to have lunch with Albuquerque’s distinguished Mayor, MARTIN CHAVEZ. The whole thing was a part of the recent Carrie Tingley Children’s Hospital “Radiothon 2009″. The Mayor is a good guy who really does care about the kids in this facility! Regardless of your politics and beliefs, our Mayor is a truly smart, classy guy, and Albuquerque is lucky to have him! He is really up on his knowledge of our animal humane issues. We were very impressed with his whole outlook, and it was an honor to sit down to a meal with him! We will support anyone who keeps his word like Mayor Chavez, and he really believes in helping kids and animals! He is a good man!

Thanks to Golden Corral Restaurants and particularly “Ro”. They are a huge supporter of the Children’s Miracle Network, and UNM Children’s Hospital! They also treated us to some delicious food! We had a great lunch with the Mayor on one day, but we also almost broke the bank one day when they invited everyone at the shop to come eat! We had the world champion team Batman in town and team Monster Mutt Dalmation! With three teams, you can imagine the food we can put away but they didn’t even flinch. Golden Corral is a great company that we really like! The great food is a sweet bonus! We recommend eating there only if you really like delicious food, and lots of it! Count on seeing the Pit Bull Truck parked out in front of their restaurants while the team is inside having some great food!

We will be working more with them in the future to raise more money for these kids that need it so much!

Wichita Falls was wild!

We were back in the cool Texas town of Wichita Falls. Kay Yeager Coliseum saw us back on the concrete beatin’ on our chassis! We ttok on trucks like  Martial Law, Bad Habit, Barbarian, Turtle, and Gravedigger w/ Pablo! We ran pretty good over the weekend, but we broke a transmission the first night! The people in this town were so friendly and we want to thank them for that! We hope to return again soon!
